To Help

The
Widowed Persons Association of California is a nonprofit,
nondenominational community service organization dedicated to helping widowed
people overcome their grief and learn to live and laugh again.
WPAC
was organized in Sacramento in 1985 and by 1988 grew to more than 800 members in
the Sacramento area. In 1987. the state WP AC office was established to help
other communities set up WPAC chapters.
All
of the people who work for WPAC and who have
made WPAC the largest and most successful
organization of its kind in the nation are widows and widowers. We know what it
means to lose a spouse and how long and hard seems the road to a new and
independent life.
We're
here. . . to listen, to lend a hand, to let you talk or cry or rage. We know the
grieving process well because each of us has lived through it. too. The
motto of WPAC is "" grief
shared is a grief diminished" because we have discovered that
widowed people need, more than anything else, the companionship and
understanding of those who have also loved and lost - and lived to become strong
and vital people.
We're
here to help.
